COLLINWOOD CAMERA CLUB
Photography is a fine art, with a variety of career paths available. That is why Bridget decided neighborhood youth should have the opportunity to learn from area professionals. During the summer program, 5 teenagers met weekly to learn different photography techniques. They provided free photoshoots during Walk All Over Waterloo and the Waterloo Arts Fest. Their work was exhibited at Maria Neil- each of the students sold some of their work. Bridget and the teens are hoping to continue to the project, and some of the teens have decided on a career path.

Project Topic: Youth Engagement
Project Description: The Collinwood Camera Club would engage high school aged young adults to teach them photography to utilize that skill set in expressing themselves and telling their communities story. The club would serve high school students from anywhere in the region and would offer community engagement opportunities for adult photographers interested in advising and volunteering. The club would be run as a school club with some of the administration and decisions being made by the students.
Community Engagement Strategy: Taking photographs in the community, telling the communities stories as well as offering free portrait sessions to people within the neighborhood.
